Over the years technology has grown and developed to astronomical levels that we never dreamed of 20 or 30 years ago. It used to be that to appraise and value goods of any kind an appraiser needed to see them in person, be it paintings or larger goods such as homes.
In order to properly appraise something, a certified appraiser in Port Charlotte or elsewhere needed to be able to inspect a home personally. With today’s technology, people can video call or take and send photos to one another in seconds. That is why virtual appraisals are now easier to conduct than ever!
How are Virtual Appraisals Conducted?
Virtual appraisals consist of the same process as a standard appraisal. The only difference is when it comes to the inspection of the property.
It’s as simple as using video to do a walk through of the property either by facetiming or by means of another video calling service. Then you can use your camera to take pictures around the property. When you are done you simply send the pictures to us (the appraiser) and we will be able to provide you with a quick and accurate appraisal all while never having to leave our office.
Once we have received pictures of the property you want appraised we will be able to inspect the property as well as look at comparable properties in the area. We will also use other means at our disposal such as public records, aerial images, plat maps, prior recent mls listings if available, and things of that nature.
This will help us to give you the most accurate appraisal possible all while you never have to leave the comfort of your own property.
Why are Virtual Appraisals Important?
Being able to connect with any individual around the world in seconds has really changed how companies do business. Even when it comes to the home buying and selling process, appraisers can give you a completely accurate appraisal from hundreds of miles away.
The virtual appraisal process has never been easier than it is now. Currently in the United States we are unable to get around and be out as freely as we normally could due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Making sure to stay safe and practice physical distancing from other people is key during these tough times. However, what can we do to try and continue are everyday lives? We can use our incredible technology! With the use of technology businesses and transactions are still being made everyday.
Also with the use of technology, people are able to continue current market sales and even look at new ones, all from the comfort of their home. As a matter of fact, right now is the best time to buy a home! Mortgage interest rates are lower than they’ve been in a very long time and are likely never going to drop this low again.
People are already able to virtually contact agents and virtually tour homes. Right now everyone is switching to virtual business practices making it easier and quicker to purchase homes. Being able to tour the home virtually helps significantly reduce the amount of time that it takes to set up an appraisal.
Now we no longer need to schedule additional time to drive to the property which helps us to free up time for more appointments. Now we can tour several homes and inspect properties in the amount of time it usually takes to inspect a single property.
With the changing times, now more than ever virtual appraisals are needed to keep up with the demands of the market and the people looking for appraisals.
