Your yard is an extension of your home. But it is even more than that. It is a place for children to play, for you to laugh, to entertain, and to make precious memories with your friends and family.

Or are you planning to sell your home soon? Getting your home ready to sell is not incredibly important. But a lot of people forget about the yard.

Your yard can be a huge selling point for the home, especially here in Florida. So whether you are planning to sell your home or want to enjoy your yard for yourself we can help you to upgrade your Florida patio this spring.

What Do You Want To Do With Your Patio?

Before getting started, you need to ask yourself, “what do I want from my patio?”

Everyone will have a slightly different answer and that’s okay. Maybe you just want a quiet place to sit in the evening and enjoy a glass of wine.

Maybe you want a place you can entertain and cook while the kids run and play. Or maybe you want something neutral that’s both comfortable and functional to really show off the space to potential buyers.

No matter what the inspiration is, you need to keep it in mind while picking out furniture, colors, and design elements for your patio space. So it is always a good idea to talk with your family to see what things they think would be important to include.

Once you know what you want to use your outdoor space for, then you can get started with the fun part. And you don’t need to be an expert designer to upgrade your patio this spring.

It is as easy as starting out with a color theme.

Think About Your Colors

Before you go out buying a bunch of crazy mix match pieces for your patio think about what colors would work well in that space. There are several different ways that you can go about choosing your color pallet.

What do you already have in your yard? If you have flowering plants in your yard already you should think about what colors will match or complement these plants. Working with what you already have is a smart way to go about your patio upgrade (as long as nothing is worn down and is still in good shape).

Once you pick a central color theme remember to stick to it! Going with items that are plain single color pieces is the way to go. Trying to incorporate patterns into the design does not always go as planned and can make your patio feel tacky and discombobulated.

This is especially true when it comes to staging the patio for open houses or in the attempt to sell your home. The last thing you want is for potential buyers to feel uneasy and confused about the backyard entertaining area.

An Entertaining Space

No matter what your particular vision is for your patio, entertaining is most likely part of that vision. Be it your children, your family, and even just yourself.

Think about what looks comfortable and inviting. You want the space to feel like an oasis and seating is going to be a big part of that. But the type of seating also primarily depends on what the space is going to be used for.

Remember that this space needs to be functional too not just beautiful.

If you plan on doing a lot of entertaining your friends and family with drinks then you should look at some chairs and couches with smaller coffee tables. Possibly even a fire pit for those colder nights.

But if you want a space where you can eat actual meals comfortably with your family and friends then you should look at an outdoor dining table with chairs.

Investing in some nice outdoor furniture will also really help to show potential buyers what the yard can be for them if you’re selling your home. Not only that, but it will make your yard a part of your home that you enjoy every day.

Don’t Forget To Add Some Pizzazz

Your patio needs to be inviting right? So don’t forget to add the pizzazz. Every outdoor space needs some decorative pieces and plants to make it feel more inviting.

You can use Florida native plant to add a touch of color or even use them to invite in the wildlife. Certain plants will attract butterflies or bumblebees and make the area feel more alive. Or you can use plants that smell wonderful and repel things like mosquitos.

And little things like an outdoor rug, some beautiful outdoor lighting, or having a couple of candles can really add that final touch that really pulls everything together for that upgraded feel.

So if you want to upgrade your patio this spring, remember to keep these things in mind and to be creative with your design choices. But most importantly remember to stick to your central theme.

If you can do these few simple things then you will have no problem transforming your outdoor space into a beautiful lounge area that will be inviting and comfortable for any and everyone.
