5 Major Tips to Increase Your Homes Curb Appeal 10 Fold

I’m sure everyone has had the experience of driving past a house that just catches your eye. You look back and find yourself staring at the home. The beautiful style, the porch, stunning flowerbeds, the red front door that just pops.

This is true curb appeal. A home that makes a great impression before you ever step foot inside. This is what you need if you plan on selling your home and getting the most you can out of it.

Curb appeal is what gets buyers interested in a property right away. That is why we have compiled a list of 5 major tips to increase your home’s curb appeal and help you sell your property for everything it is worth.

5 Tips to Increase Your Homes Curb Appeal So You Can Sell

  1. Enhance Your Front Door

One of the most important aspects of your home is the entrance. Your door is the threshold that everyone must walk across in order to enter the property. So your front door should make a statement about your home.

But what should it say? You need it to make a statement that will appeal to the masses. So, typically you should go with a modern look. Something that most everyone will find beautiful.

The easiest way to do this is to simply paint your door. You will want something that makes your door stand out but you don’t want it to scream. Don’t paint your door neon pink or anything too out there. Remember, you are trying to appeal to the masses.

So look at what colors are currently trending. And don’t forget to take your current house colors (or if you’re repainting, the new house colors) into account. They need to match well together while also complementing one another.

Is your front door looking a little worse for wear?

Maybe you should consider getting a new front door put in. And upgrading your hardware is always a good idea. Having everything look crisp, clean, and modern is a great way to make a memorable impression on prospective buyers.

  1. Power Wash or Paint

Cleaning!

This one might just be the most important of our 5 major tips to increase your home’s curb appeal.

Making your home look beautiful and clean is harder than you might think. But it also does a lot to increase buyer interest. Thank goodness for power washers.

Power washing your siding will work wonders and take years of mildew and dirt off the look. Sometimes power washing is all the really needs to be done. However, if you are looking for a way to make your home stand out you should consider painting.

Hiring painters is fairly easy and not as expensive as you might think. But a fresh coat of paint will really make your home stand out from the other homes on your street.

You should really consider painting your home, especially if the paint job on your home is a little out of date.

  1. Get Some Flowers and Foliage

Everyone loves flowers and foliage. There really is no better way to make your home look more inviting. Putting up some flowers or foliage displays is a fairly inexpensive way to increase curb appeal and dress up your home.

And there are hundreds of different ways that you can go about it.

Planting in a flower bed is more work, but well worth the time. Buyers love perennials and other foliage plants that come back every year. That means less work for them and a beautiful display that doesn’t need as much attention.

However, if you are not a very big gardening person, just buy some cute floral displays from your local home improvement store. Make sure they are in some decorative pots that look sleek (the last thing you want is to make your home look cheap).

Set them up around the front porch, around the perimeter of your home, or near your mailbox. Just look up some simple ideas on how to set up your display and go for it!

Window boxes are another way to catch a buyer’s attention. The classic floral display under a window is a beautiful touch that people absolutely love.

  1. Beautiful Lighting Goes a Long Way

Lighting! This is incredibly important. A stunning light setup can really transform your outside space. Finding out what looks are popular is a big part of picking out the right lighting accessories.

Obviously, you need a standard porch light. Depending on your home you will need either a sconce or porch chandelier for some. The key is to make sure that it is modern and matches your home.

Especially consider the front door and other fixtures and try to use the same kind of look. If all of your hardware is gold, brass, or aged bronze make sure to consider that when picking your light fixtures.

Another popular look is hanging lights. If you can afford to add a little something extra to your home, making the front deck a seating area and having some beautiful hanging lights outlining the entire porch can really take your curb appeal to the next level.

  1. Set Up Outdoor Decor

Show potential buyers what the front of their new home can be! For most people, it is difficult to picture a space before it is all finished and beautiful. That is why there are entire businesses around staging homes to sell.

Because it works. Helping a potential buyer to see what your home can be for them will take them from looking around a house and transport them into a fairytale where they find the home of their dream.

The real magic happens when they realize that your home can be their home.

One of the best ways to help them see how beautifully the front of a home can look is by setting up a stunning seating area. And remember, it doesn’t have to be on the front porch.

If your home doesn’t really have a front porch, you can still make a gorgeous seating area for people to relax. There are hundreds of ideas that you can use to make a front yard seating area incredibly inviting.

Just remember that if you want to increase your home curb appeal, there is no better time than the present.
